Home Gardening Program
In addition to setting up a farm and
bakery, the Home Gardening Program exists to empower townspeople to grow
valuable crops to feed their families. We organize workshops for the families
in which they learn about the construction of a vegetable garden, the care of
the different crops and the harvest. Crops that are resistant to drought and
other weather conditions have been chosen, such as tomatoes, sweet peppers,
sweet potatoes, beans and corn.
In addition to vegetable gardens at
the houses, we also create a central vegetable garden. In this vegetable
garden, seedlings are grown that can be distributed among the families in
Platfontein.
