Local authorities have granted us a 30-year lease for 2,5 hectares of land at Platfontein.
We have established contact with a local baker and chicken farmer to seek advice and support for setting up a bakery and chicken farm at Platfontein.
A local bakery has donated equipment to set-up a bakery at Platfontein. They have also offered to train local staff how to operate the equipment and bake bread. However, the equipment will need to be transported to the site. And the site must be secure.
We have hired local workers from Platfontein to clear the land of plants and debris and to level the ground.
One of our local contacts has agreed to supervise the site.
A website is being build for our activities at Platfontein.
A step-by-step plan has been drawn up:
1. Fences to secure the site
2. Two gates for the fences so trucks can easily enter and leave the site instead of getting stuck while turning on the loose sand.
3. Electricity and water connections for the site
4. Sowing grass
5. Build a storage for equipment and tools
6. Repair / replace oven
7. Transport bakery equipment to site
8. Buy scales, bowls, etc.
9. Schedule bakery training
10. Buy flour, yeast and salt for the bread
11. Build chicken farm
12. Buy chickens and feed
A budget and financial target has been determined for each step.
We have laid the electrial connections, which means we now have electricity on the land.
The website is online and will soon be shared on our socials.
